Stirling Albion U19s won Linlithgow Thistle’s fourth annual preseason tournament on Saturday, 27th July 2013 at Linlithgow Rugby Club.

It was another excellent event, with a fantastic standard of competition between all sides.  Results are shown below.

Stirling Albion claimed the trophy after a defeat of last year’s winners, Stenhousemuir AFC in the final.  Along with the impressive trophy, donated by Surridge Sports in 2010, the club also collected a cheque for the nominated charity, SSPCA for a whopping £700.

Chris Paton of Stirling Albion picked up the Player of the Tournament award and Connor McQuade of Carronshore Athletic claimed the Top Goal Scorer trophy.

Cupar Hearts pulled out of the tournament at extremely late notice which meant a reschedule of fixtures.  However, this did not impact on the standard of football throughout the competition.

Linlithgow Thistle progressed to the semi-finals as winners of their league, with impressive performances.  The club’s new faces appear to be gelling well.

As well as providing an excellent preseason workout for all teams, great friendships have been established between clubs.

The Tournament was very generously sponsored by Sainsbury’s, Linlithgow,  The Dolphin Snack Van  and Caledonian Produce.  Special thanks to Forth Valley GIS for providing plastic water bottles to the clubs, Linlithgow Rugby Club for the use of their facilities and to Bo’ness United CFC and Linlithgow Rose CFC for the use of their portable goals.
