Match Report

Linlithgow Thistle started the new season with a disappointing result against West Lothian rivals, East Calder United.

Despite a makeshift team, forced upon the management team through injuries, holidays and work commitments, the players produced a comfortable first half performance. With a goal not awarded by the referee, who did not believe the ball had crossed the line, it was The Thistle that delivered the more convincing display.

This dominance was again demonstrated at the start of the second half before a defensive error was clinically capitalised upon by the hosts. This had a detrimental effect on confidence and the hosts began to take control. A further defensive error saw their lead double before the final whistle.

A huge positive was the substitute appearance by Club Captain, Neil Porteous who returns after a six month lay off.
