The Thistle made the short journey to East Whitburn to play West Lothian rivals and newly promoted Whitburn Bluebell. Despite both sides starting the season poorly, the game ebbed and flowed with periods of good football played by both teams.
The Thistle were fortunate with their first goal when Orr smashed a speculative freekick into the box, only for a defender to turn it into his own net. It remained 1-0 at half time.
Into the second half, Thistle pressed for the first 15 mins. G Deans’ determination paid off, with a crunching challenge falling favourably. His direct play led to an 18 yard strike that sailed over the stranded keeper.
However, the home side regrouped and claimed a share of the spoils through a blundered goal from a corner and a fantastic freekick.
