Thistle were dumped out of the national cup by Stirling & District AFA Champions, Stenhousemuir, following a battle at Kettil’stoun Mains Park.
The Thistle failed to deliver the same drive and determination as that shown in last week’s first encounter, with a lacklustre performance.
Despite going ahead with a Heeps clinical finish in the first half, the visitors managed to respond almost immediately and see out the first half on even terms.
The second half, owing to the weather induced tough physical conditions, saw the game ebb and flow, with the hosts commanding more of the possession.
Following no further goal action, the game moved into extra time. Stenhousemuir capitalised on slack defending and punished the home side with a neat finish, before extending their lead lead into the second period as Thistle pressed.
Thistle will rue the missed opportunity of advancing from the first game but will take great pride and experience from this double headed affair.
