Thistle finished 2013 in style with a comprehensive East of Scotland Cup victory over Stirling & District AFA First Division side, Tillicoultry.
In quite horrendous conditions, Thistle dominated from start to finish. Despite Scott Bruce being dismissed on 20 mins for handling outside of the box, the visitors were unable to capitalise on their personnel advantage. Gary Mitchell replaced Bruce in goals and, when called upon, dealt with shots comfortably.
On the half hour, Lacki finished a well worked move with a smart strike. Jamie McLean notched the first of his brace with a bullet header before the break.
Into the second half, Heeps finished well before Jamie McLean completed a wonder-solo goal. Having picked up the ball deep into Thistle’s half, McLean sprinted the length of the pitch, taking on four opposition players and blasting the ball beyond the keeper from 12 yards, the ball striking in off the post to add effect!
A couple of other opportunities saw no outcome but a comfortble performance and a clean sheet will please the managment team ahead of the festive fixture break.
Thistle will play Stirling University in the Fourth Round.
