Thistle booked their place in the Quarter Finals of the East of Scotland Cup with a resounding away defeat of Stirling University.
With little chances created at both ends, Thistle went into the break 1-0 down to their Stirling & District AFA Premier opponents.
However, it was the second half that saw Thistle dominate, with periods of excellent posession and numerous opportunities, including striking the post and one-on-one chances with the keeper.
It took sheer class to eventually break the home side’s rearguard. Gary Mitchell swerved in a glorious strike 25 yards from goal on 60 mins. This reward certainly galvanised Jim Anderson’s team.
However, it took until the 87th minute for the winning goal to come. A fantastic team-effort goal, built from defence, culminating in a Jamie McLean cross and poacher’s finish by Heeps, sealed the victory for Thistle.
