Thistle saw their run of six consecutive victories come to an end, being disappointingly dumped out of the East of Scotland Cup by the well organised students.
Despite going in at half time 3-1 down, Robb getting the host’s only goal, the Thistle team rallied in the second period. Bauros converted a penalty before Cartwright scored a wonder goal, pivoting and striking the ball on the diagonal.
With minutes remaining, the University claimed the victory with a goal through slack defending. Four goals from five opportunities is an excellent return for the visitors but the Thistle will be left scratching their heads with the number of gilt edged chances that went abegging during this contest.
